书上的、纸上的字介词用on还是用in ？
在操场上介词用in，而农场里介词用on，请问英语这是固定使用方法还是有肯定的语言规则? 如：
He usually plays basketball in the playground. And he goes back home bybus.
Mr MacDonld has ten sheep on the farm.
介词的使用方法在英语中是非常灵活的，也是新手非常难学会的，有的和习惯使用方法有关，有的又和语境有关。现仅就你提出的几个例子谈一下我的理解。
in the book 一般说到书中的信息，或书中夹的东西等。on the book 常指书上存放的东西或书的封面上的某种情形。 例句：There is a pen on the book. You will find a love story in the book. paper前的介词用道理相似。当paper指报纸或文件时，in the paper, 指里面的信息。假如表示一张纸，在上面画个什么，一般用on.
操场上可以用in或on. 通常来讲，当把操场看作一个空旷的平面时用on, 若是有围栏的操场，一般用in.
农场on the farm. 《朗文词典》farm词条如此写道：Say on a farm not ‘in a farm’. 假如仅侧重方位，playground 和farm也可以用at.
有的使用方法和英美语言差异有关。美语常用on, 英语常用in。如：on/in the street, on/in the exam等。
